His work, including visualizations of national campaign finance data and an investigation into the improper storage of student data at Reed College, has won top awards from the ACP in news writing, opinion, and multimedia journalism. He is the recipient of the 2023 Multimedia Story of the Year award for interactive graphics.
As a Dow Jones News Fund data reporting intern for the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at the University of Maryland, he conducted data analysis for the center's award-winning Off the Rails series on the dangers posed by long distance rail transport of hazardous materials. He has developed open-source datasets for the Data Liberation Project and the Open Elections initiative, among others.
He contracts as an elections webscraper for the Associated Press. In 2026, he delivered a talk on covering higher education with data at IRE’s NICAR conference for data journalism. His recent work includes:
